Microsoft adds child mode to its Edge browser

Microsoft has released a beta version of the Edge 90 browser, the most notable innovation in which is the introduction of the child mode. Testing will continue over the next few weeks, with the stable version of the browser expected to launch in about a month.

As for the child mode, it is a kind of "sandbox" inside the browser and is intended for use by children in the age groups from 5 to 8 years old and from 9 to 12 years old. This mode uses Bing SafeSearch to provide access to “friendly content”. There is also a predefined list of trusted resources that can be edited while using the browser.

In children's mode, the browser will provide articles targeted at the appropriate age group of users, the ability to change the design themes. At the same time, a high level of confidentiality is ensured, preventing tracking of user activity. Kid Mode can be activated using the Profile Selector without requiring a Microsoft account. This is probably due to the fact that there are no ads in this mode and tracking is blocked.

Edge 90 has other improvements that were previously tested in beta versions of the browser by members of the Microsoft Insider Program. We are talking about improvements in the management of collections, as well as in the interaction with PDF files. After conducting the necessary testing, Microsoft will begin rolling out a stable version of the browser on a large scale.
