Bolsonaro decides that he will not be vaccinated against covid-19

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has decided not to get vaccinated against COVID-19, arguing that he has enough antibodies against the disease from having passed it.

This has been confirmed in a radio interview collected by the news portal G1, after having assured in the past that he would be "the last" to be vaccinated in Brazil.

"With regard to the vaccine, I have decided not to inject it," said the president, who insisted that "why" would he use it if he already has antibodies. "It would be the same as the one played in the lottery for 10 Brazilian reais (just over 1.5 euros) to win two reais (30 cents)," he continued.

Bolsonaro is 66 years old, so he is in the risk group for COVID-19. He has been critical on several occasions with the vaccine against the disease and has defended treating it with drugs whose ineffectiveness is proven by science.

Last month, because he was not vaccinated, he faced several restrictions during his trip to New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly. Last week he could not access a Brazilian stadium either because he was not vaccinated.
