There she would upload videos of her walking, cooking or singing in traditional Tibetan dress.

One day in September 2020, while making a live video on the social network, her ex-husband doused her with gasoline and set her on fire.

The blogger died two weeks later in hospital from serious injuries. His death raised a wave of indignation in China and opened a debate on sexist violence.

The victim had divorced her violent husband three months earlier. The latter was sentenced to capital punishment for premeditated murder.

His crime "showed extreme cruelty and its impact on society was terribly bad," the court said in a statement.

After his death, millions of Internet users demanded justice for the victim on social networks, using a "hashtag" or label that was later censored by the authorities.
