
An interview is a conversation between a recruiter or an employer and a candidate, during which both parties realize whether or not they are suitable for each other. The interview is not necessarily a face-to-face meeting: the interview can be conducted by telephone or video.
What is a job interview?

Telephone interview
A telephone interview is the first stage of direct communication between the employer and the candidate. Often, after a phone call, the employer or director decides whether or not to invite the person to a face-to-face meeting, so take the call seriously and prepare as you would for a live interview.
Telephone interviewing saves time not only for employers but also for candidates. You can ask important questions about the official design or schedule over the phone and immediately turn down an unsuitable vacancy.
Structured interview
A classic type of job interview, the task of which is to get to know the candidate and learn more about him / her. The employer asks consistent questions and gathers the necessary information during the conversation.
For such an interview you need to prepare a short and interesting story about yourself, your education and career path.
Case interview
Otherwise, this type of interview is also called situational. The employer gives the candidate a solution to a particular case directly at the interview. For example, a few introductory questions and problems and the applicant should answer in detail how he would have acted in such a situation. Sometimes a case interview is a continuation of a classic interview with questions.
Projection interview
The purpose of such an interview is to reveal the true qualities of a person by answering questions. For example, a candidate might be asked why a person might be fired, how employees might be motivated to work more productively, why subordinates cheat on a manager.
When answering such questions, the candidate expresses his / her point of view, and the employer can assess whether such an opinion is available to him / her. This is the essence of a projection interview.
Competency interview
During such an interview, the employer asks the candidate to present his / her declared competencies with real examples. For example, you should describe a situation in which the qualities of a leader or resistance to stress were revealed.
The manager wants to know what is hidden behind the terms such as “responsibility” and “hardworking” and the competency interview helps a lot.
Stressful interview
Let’s say it right away – if you find yourself in a stressful interview, run away from that company right away. The purpose of such an interview is to immerse the candidate in uncomfortable conditions and his reaction. Some companies go too far and use very strict methods: grabbing chairs to make a candidate fall, pointlessly considering a person’s appearance, smoking in the face and swearing. Unfortunately, these are real examples.
Decent employers do not use this interview format to communicate with people, but to express thinking, they simply give candidates mind training. Therefore, even if you go through a stressful interview, it is unlikely that you will be comfortable working in such a company.
Group interviews
When companies need to hire several employees in one specialty and in a short time, conduct a group interview. Too often this happens to the vacancies of sales managers, consultants, production line workers, and so on.
Typically, a group interview is the second stage of staff selection (after the telephone interview). Employers then schedule face-to-face meetings for those selected through a group interview.
Summary: Techniques of several interview formats can be used within one interview. For example, structured interview + case interview + competency interview.
The interview can be conducted by a recruiter, a staff member, an HR, a company manager, a future manager and even an entire commission. You can clarify this question before interviewing a recruiter.
Prepare for the interview
You do not need to prepare all day to be successful in the interview. If you are invited for an interview, it means that the employer is already interested in you and you only need to strengthen that sympathy.

Find out if the company has a dress code
Observance of the dress code is respect for company rules. You can find out what kind of appearance the company welcomes from photos on their website or social media. If there are no employee photos in the workplace, ask the employer directly what style to follow. It is best to clarify this question the moment your employer invites you for an interview.
Provide a list of required documents
Sometimes employers ask you to bring various documents for the interview: diplomas, passport, printed resume, etc. In any case, check with the recruiter if you need to bring any documents for the interview. Show a business approach, or maybe serve a forgetful recruiter;)
Examine company information
Minimum things you need to know about the company: year of establishment, name of the director, history of creation (site, search engines, social networks to help), important projects or clients. It is better for an employer to relate to someone who knows his company, product or service – remember this. It would be nice if you could tell a nice story about the company. For example, in their queue, you met your best friend at a coffee shop, your mom bought your favorite apartment at their agency, or you love their hilarious ad with a famous singer. But you do not have to think about anything.
Prepare answers to common questions
It is helpful to think in advance about how you will answer the usual questions. Try to avoid word of mouth from the internet – employers know them by heart. Plan your answer and memorize it, literally without packaging.

Paying for a pre-employment training course or educational literature, paying for a work computer or buying work tools is all fraud.
