Olympiacos: Martins - "It is important that no one has managed to beat us in the championship"

Peter Martin

Pedro Martins referred to the dynamics of Olympiakos this year, which remains undefeated in the Super League with the regular league final remaining.

The Piraeus coach gave his standard interview to NOVA, before Sunday’s game (06/03, 19:00) away from home with Aris.

The Portuguese coach underlined that he expects a quite difficult game, against a good team with a new coach, which has brought positive results, while when asked about his 100 victories in the championship as coach of Olympiacos, he positioned himself on the two victories over Atromites. in Peristeri with goals in the last minutes, but also in the derbies against AEK and PAOK.

Olympiacos coach Pedro Martins spoke in detail on the subscription channel:

-For the match with Aris and what game awaits him:

“It’s a derby. A difficult match against a strong rival at home. A strong and intense game. Aris is strong and has a coach who has given him positive results. We will go there with the goal of victory. We want to end the year by winning the three points, we want a good game, with a good result”.

-For the problems of Tikinio, Manolas and Agibu and if they have overcome them:

Manolas is fine, he has trained with the rest of the team and is available, he has no problems. Ticinio has done individual training today and we will wait until tomorrow to assess his condition and make our decisions. It has been observed that Agibu has symptoms of fatigue from many games that he was not used to and we have observed that all he feels are symptoms of fatigue. And he will be given time until tomorrow to make the final two decisions as Manolas is ready.”

-For the fact that Olympiacos remains undefeated for the second season with Martins on the bench and if it is a medal:

“This is also very important, an important element that nobody has managed to beat Olympiakos in the championship. This is also the result of the good work that is done, the value of our players, it shows that we have a good and quality team.

But we have many games ahead of us, many points to add and we want to do it in the best way, we want to play good games and continue adding points to maintain and increase our difference. We want to continue in the championship with good odds. It’s good and we see that it’s not easy to beat Olympiakos.”

-On whether Olympiacos wins the championship and the playoffs undefeated is an extra incentive for the players:

“The great motivation is to win every game, because that’s what we do in every game. Game by game, Olympiacos always plays for the wins and that’s what we’re after. There is no greater motivation than playing for Olympiakos. Because when you play for Olympiakos you always try to win.

We definitely want to finish the playoffs undefeated, we’ve tried other years, we want to be successful this year. “But I think the biggest motivation is that we are Olympiacos players and that is enough to always try to win.”

-For the 100 victories he achieved and if he can remember any of the ones that have stuck in his head:

“There are a lot of victories, there are a lot of moments that I remember from all these victories. There are a lot of games, but some are definitely important. I remember with a lot of intensity the games that we won in the last minute against Atromitos with Vukovic scoring in the last minute but also with Hassan scoring in the last minute away from home with Atromitos. They were very important games since those games give you the title.

I also remember our game last year against AEK, which was a good show of good football and, in general, a good and great result. Also our two consecutive victories in Toumba after the coronavirus because it was a sign that Olympiacos is still strong, still trying to win a title after two consecutive years that they had lost the title. So it was very important for us that two times in a row we managed to beat our direct opponent and all these are games that I will never forget because there are a lot of victories.”
