Requirements to install Windows 10 on Digital ocean Server


  1. Digital ocean Account & Create Droplet
  2. SSH Client Access Tool for (if you are on Windows, use PUTTY, for Linux users like me, use Terminal.

Once you’re logged into the droplet, open the “Windows Start” menu and click on “Windows PowerShell” to open the Windows PowerShell. Once you open the PowerShell, type “telnet” and hit Enter. It will open the telnet console, where you can create free RDP on Digital Ocean. Enter the following command in the console and press the Enter key.


  • First, go to settings of a droplet
  • Turn off the droplet and set the Digital Ocean Droplet to recover mode
  • Turn on and click on Console, a new browser window will pop up and enter shell (6)

sudo passwd root 


Close the console window and login to your server using PUTTY on Windows or SSH on Ubuntu

Step 4: Install and configure Free-RDP on a Windows 10 VM

To do so, type “ninite.com” in the console, and then hit Enter. Then, select “Windows” and click on the “install” button to install the free RDP on the Windows 10 VM. After the installation is complete, you can start the RDP server on the Windows 10 VM. To do so, type “netsh” in the console and then hit Enter.

  • Turn off Digital Ocean and click on boot from hard disk.
  • Turn on droplet and click on the console. Use the credentials below.
  • username: WhatUpTime.com
  • Password: P@ssword64
  • The first step while in the console is to change this password to avoid being hacked.
  • The last step is to configure Networking in your Windows server or 10, set the IP, SubNet, and the gateway as given in the console window. Watch the video below for exact steps.



Step 5: Connect to the remote desktop from your local PC

To connect to the remote desktop from your local computer, type “rdp” in the console and then hit Enter. Once you execute the command, you will see the RDP server connection in the console. Now, open the “Remote Desktop Connection” from the Windows 10 start menu to connect to the remote desktop. Once you click on the “Connect” button, you will be prompted to enter the IP address, username, and password to log in to the remote desktop. If you are creating Windows 10 RDP on Digital Ocean, then you need to type the IP address of the droplet.
