TMT Consulting has published the results of a study of the Russian market for broadband Internet access (BBA) services in 2020: the industry has shown growth both in the number of subscribers and in revenue.
It is noted that the pandemic contributed to the development of the market, provoking self-isolation of citizens, an increase in the demand for remote work and distance learning services.
The number of broadband Internet subscribers in the segment of individuals in 2020 reached 34.6 million, an increase of 2.6% compared to the previous year. At the same time, the operators' revenue increased by 3.4%, amounting to 147.7 billion rubles.
Rostelecom is the largest provider of broadband access in the population segment, with a share of 36% in terms of the number of subscribers and 40% in terms of revenue. Next comes ER-Telecom with 11% for both indicators. MTS closes the top three - 11% and 9%, respectively.

In 2020, the penetration of broadband services in the Moscow market amounted to 89%, and the number of subscribers exceeded 4.3 million. The market volume in monetary terms amounted to 16.6 billion rubles.
