Cannes: Lea Seydoux, Actress, tests positive for Covid-19

After testing positive for Covid-19, Lea Seydoux, a French actress, may not attend the Cannes Film Festival.

The James Bond actor, who is both double-vaccinated as well as asymptomatic, will be appearing in four films at the most prestigious movie festival in the world.

The event will be held on-site at the French Riviera. Organisers insist that they take strict precautions to prevent infection.

Rumours of a "Cannes cluster", however, have been circulated.

Festival director Thierry Fremaux strongly denied these claims.

He stated that Saturday's test results showed no positive cases. "We have to say this in order to prove that the rumours about a Cannes cluster are false."

Ms Seydoux (36), had not yet arrived at the festival when she found out she had been positive. Representatives for Ms Seydoux say that she will travel only if doctors give her permission.

Next week, all four of Anderson's films will be shown. The French Dispatch is the first film to be shown, and it stars Wes Anderson. Although the premiere will be held on Monday, it has been delayed by the pandemic.

The following are Arnaud Deplechin's Deception Tuesday, Ildiko Emyedi's The Story of My Wife Wednesday, and Bruno Dumont’s France Thursday.

Three titles are up for consideration for the Palme d'Or at Cannes, which is the highest prize. Seydoux won the 2013 prize for Blue is the Warmest Colour.
