The Colombian Police have detained in the city of Cali the alleged drug trafficker Alexander Serna Giraldo, alias 'El Loco', on whom an extradition request to the United States weighs.
The security forces, with the help of the United States, have arrested the well-known 'narco', considered the main drug trafficker in Valle del Cauca, in the west of the country.
The police commander, General Jorge Luis Vargas, has indicated that his arrest is a "severe blow to drug trafficking networks" and has clarified that he was a pilot, an air inspector and had participated in local elections. In addition, in some circles he was posing as a community leader, as he has explained in statements to the newspaper 'El Tiempo'. "'El Loco' led a life of luxury like we had not seen for a long time in Colombia.
This type of drug traffickers pose as merchants, as people dedicated to finance and commercial activities in various sectors," Vargas assured before clarifying that " it has luxury estates and apartments that will now be involved in an investigation process. " The police have accused him of being responsible for the shipment of almost a ton of cocaine that was seized at the Cartago airport.
Likewise, his extradition to the United States has been requested for drug trafficking.
